Spread Awareness, Join the Beauty vs. The Beast Team

Thanks to all of those who participated in the Race for the Cure on Sunday, November 1st. Together the Beauty vs. The Beast team raised $1,800 that will go toward helping those with breast cancer in San Diego County and toward further research.Visit our Facebook Fan Page to see more pictures.

Did you know that breast cancer is the most common cancer in women in the United States, aside from skin cancer? An estimated 40,170 women are expected to die from the disease in 2009 alone. Today, there are about 2.5 million breast cancer survivors living in the United States.

In order to raise greater breast cancer awareness amongst the beauty community, Armstrong McCall is sponsoring the Beauty vs. The Beast team of salon and spa professionals who will walk together at the Komen San Diego Race for the Cure on November 1st, 2009 in Balboa Park.

San Diego beauty professionals, along with Armstrong McCall along will be participating in the Race for the Cure in order to raise funds and awareness for the fight against breast cancer, celebrate breast cancer survivorship, and honor those who have lost their battle with the disease.

Every dollar counts!

Seventy-five percent of every dollar raised stays right here in San Diego County to cover every step of the breast cancer journey – from mammograms and diagnostics to treatments and financial support like meals, mortgage payments, child care and more. The remaining 25 percent funds international research.  In fact, next to the U.S. government, Komen is the largest funder of breast cancer research in the world.
